Naviextras Toolbox is a free-of-charge software that allows you to download, purchase, and install map updates to your navigation SD card. Without the Naviextras Toolbox, you cannot download updates to your navigation SD card. Download the Naviextras Toolbox from this website.
🗎NOTE: SD-card: The SD card is built in your vehicle's navigation system, and it contains the navigation system licenses with the factory-installed map. To update the map on your navigation system, you need to remove the SD card from its slot (see Owner's Manual of the vehicle) and insert it into your computer's SD card reader.

Yes, Naviextras Toolbox is compatible with Microsoft Windows' latest and two earlier OS versions.
Can I Install Naviextras Toolbox to Mac?
Yes, Naviextras Toolbox is compatible with macOS' latest and two earlier OS versions. If you are using the OSX Catalina, please download and install the latest version of the Naviextras Toolbox, that is compatible with your OSX. The previous Naviextras Toolbox won't start after OSX update Catalina.
Do I need an internet connection to download the latest maps/content?
The Naviextras Toolbox needs to connect to online servers for completing various functions including checking for updates and downloading the latest maps.
How do I start the Naviextras Toolbox?
When you downloaded and installed the Naviextras Toolbox, launch it with the icon on your desktop. Remove your SD card from its slot in your vehicle and insert it into your computer (PC or Mac). The Naviextras Toolbox will automatically read and recognize the navigation data on your SD card.

If you forgot the email address that you used for creating the Naviextras Toolbox account, you must register again. All the content that you have obtained previously will still be available to you, because content is locked to your SD card and not to your Naviextras Toolbox account.

How can I check the availability of any free map updates?
Launch the Naviextras Toolbox, insert your vehicle's SD card and the application will automatically recognize available updates for the detected SD Card, and will offer them for download and install. If you want to know before launching Naviextras Toolbox whether a new map version was released, please sign up for newsletters to get notified by email.
Can I install available updates later?
Yes, all available updates can be installed at any point in time.
Can I cancel the download and install in progress?
No, the Download and Install process must complete fully to maintain consistency and validity of the map contents on the SD Card. Please do not close the Naviextras Toolbox or remove the SD Card while Download and Install is in progress.
How long should it take to download the map data?
The download time varies based on the size of the content being downloaded and your internet connection speed. It is recommended to use a broadband internet connection for downloading updates and new contents.
Are the older maps deleted when a new map update is installed?
Yes, newer maps delete and replace the older version of maps.
How do I resolve a connection error?
A connection error indicates that the Naviextras Toolbox is unable to reach the online update servers. Please ensure there is an active internet connection available and try to load the Naviextras Toolbox again.
Why is the Naviextras Toolbox not detecting my sd card?
The Naviextras Toolbox only recognizes a valid SD Card designed for use with the Subaru navigation system. Any other SD Cards will not be detected. If the SD Card is damaged or the data has been changed in any form without the use of Naviextras Toolbox, it could result in the SD Card being unrecognized. You may also want to check if the SD Card slot on your PC or Mac is working correctly.
Why are some of the options greyed out?
The Naviextras Toolbox automatically recognizes the contents of the connected SD Card. The availability of certain buttons and/or features may be linked to the contents of the SD card.
What do I do if I have lost, broken or damaged my sd card?
You will need to order a new SD Card. Please contact your Subaru Retailer for further assistance.
Why is my vehicle not recognising the sd card?
If your Subaru Map SD Card is not recognized, please ensure that the SD Card is in the unlocked state (small switch on the side of the SD card) and inserted properly in the SD Card slot in the vehicle. If it is inserted correctly, please switch off the ignition, close all doors of the vehicle and lock the vehicle for 2 minutes before restarting the vehicle. If the SD Card is still not recognized, please observe the error messages that your vehicle is displaying, and Contact us for further assistance.
Why am I seeing 'The computer has insufficient free space'?
Naviextras Toolbox needs to first download the selected products from an online server before copying the data to your SD Card. If you see this error, please ensure you have sufficient free space on your computer and restart the download and install process. The free space required varies according to map region. As a rough guide it may be necessary to have up to 10GB of free space.
Why is the download and install process failing?
Possible causes for this could be, the Naviextras Toolbox is unable to reach the update servers due to network issues, intermittent connection errors or SD Card read/write errors. In most cases, the Naviextras Toolbox will display appropriate error messages to help identify the issue. The Subaru Map SD Card is supplied only for use with the Subaru Navigation system. The card should not be used for storing any other data. Any changes to the SD Card's content must be carried out only through the Naviextras Toolbox. Storing other data on the SD Card or making unauthorised changes to data on the SD Card could cause problems with your Subaru Navigation system and may invalidate your vehicle warranty.
Can I copy the contents of one sd card to another?
No, copying or duplication of the SD Card contents is prohibited under the terms and conditions of use. Unauthorised copying or duplication of SD Cards is also prohibited.
I am using Mac and the Naviextras Toolbox won't start. What should I do?
If you have updated your OSX for Catalina, the Naviextras Toolbox will work only if you delete the previous version of the Naviextras Toolbox and download the latest one.
What do I need to pay attention at the first usage?
When using the Naviextras Toolbox on Catalina macOS for the first time, an additional permission is required to allow the application to access files on your data carrier/device. Please allow this, otherwise the Naviextras Toolbox won't run anymore.
Can I change the application permission settings later?
You can set the application permissions anytime in System Preferences. Go to Security & Privacy > Files and Folders and tick the box next to Removable volumes under the Naviextras Toolbox application.
